چکیده

A 1 2-yr-old boy with acute leukemia was globulin were found in the patient’s serum found to have paraproteinemia and Benceand urine. Electron microscopic and imJones proteinuria. The paraprotein was munofluorescence studies provided cvicharacterized as immunoglobulin M, type i dence of the presence of lymphoid leukemia and the Bence Jones protein as free cells apparently responsible for the producK-chains. Increased amounts of p2-microtion of the paraprotein. M ONOCLONAL GAMMOPATHY, usually found in multiple myeloma and Waldenstr#{246}m’s macroglobulinemia, has been observed in other proliferative disorders including leukemias. The occurrence of paraproteins of the three main immunoglobulin classes in chronic lymphocytic and myelocytic leukemias is well documented)7 In children paraproteinemia is extremely rare. Only a few cases describing its association with childhood leukemia are on record, none of which are of the 1gM class.8’#{176} This paper describes a unique case of K-type macroglobulinemia with Bence Jones proteinuria in a child with acute leukemia.
